What exhibitors need to know.

The Security Event runs every April at the NEC Birmingham and bills itself as Europe’s leading commercial, enterprise and domestic security show. More than 18,500 security professionals attend over three days, alongside 450+ manufacturers, distributors and service providers showing over 10,000 products. It runs alongside the National Cyber Security Show, so physical and cyber security buyers share the same floor.

The audience splits roughly 61% trade (installers, integrators, distributors and consultants) and 39% end users responsible for protecting their own sites. Both come to see kit working, compare it side by side and find suppliers they can rely on.

Your stand has to prove your product works, not just say so. Both shell scheme and space only plots are available, from small presences to large feature builds. Planning a space only stand? Working with exhibition stand contractors who know the NEC stops being optional.

Why this sector is different

Security buyers don't take your word for it. They watch it work.

The trade visitors here fit, wire and support the products they buy, so they judge them with their hands. They want to feel the build quality, check the connections and see how it installs. End users want to know it works on a site like theirs. Neither is interested in a back wall full of slogans.

Kit they can reach, handle and compare. A live camera feed or a working access control door they can try for themselves. Clear signage that says what you make and who it’s for, so an installer knows in seconds whether to stop.

Why Rocket-X

Built to pass inspection.

We design and build exhibition stands for The Security Event, from bespoke stand design to shell scheme and space only packages. We’ve built at The Security Event before, and we know what this floor needs. Three days of installers, integrators and end users who want to handle products, see them working and compare them side by side. Stands that hide kit behind glass or bury it in graphics get walked past.

So we build for hands-on. Product walls sit at working height, with secure fixings so samples can be handled without walking off the stand. Live demos, such as camera feeds, access control doors and intercoms, are planned in from day one with the power, network and structure they need. Where you’re selling to both trade and end users, we give each audience its own zone. Then we review what worked, so next April’s stand does even better.

We don’t build stands. We build the story your brand tells on the show floor. Every material, layout and lighting choice serves the narrative.

Heat mapping and visitor tracking available on request, plus a post-show review on every project. We prove what worked, not just what looked good.

LITE, READY and CUSTOM. Three clear ways to exhibit, three clear price points. You always know exactly what you’re getting, before you commit.

Your win is our win. We review the results together, and we’re genuinely invested in your next show being even better than the last.

How we work

From brief to build to debrief.

Designed, made and installed by one in-house team in Lincolnshire. You’ll see 3D visuals before anything is built, and one project manager runs your stand from brief to debrief.

Three ways to work with us

Pick your launch pad.

The venue

Exhibiting at NEC Birmingham.

The NEC is the UK’s busiest exhibition venue, and a few of its rules change how your stand should be designed. There’s no storage on site, power and internet are ordered in advance, and anything overhead goes through the venue. We handle the logistics. Here’s what’s worth knowing for your stand and your team.

Breakdown

29 Apr
No storage, so lock it in.

There’s nowhere to leave kit at the venue overnight. We can build lockable storage into the stand so samples and demo equipment stay secure across all three days.

Some kit needs 24-hour power.

Standard stand power switches off overnight. Fridges, servers and anything that has to stay on need a separate 24-hour supply, ordered in advance. We spec it with your stand.

Don't rely on the free Wi-Fi.

It’s fine for email, not for anything your stand depends on. We spec and order a dedicated connection for screens, demos, lead capture and card payments.

Order services early.

Power, internet, water and furniture are ordered through the venue and its contractors, and late orders usually cost more. We spec everything with your stand and order it well before the deadlines.

Hanging signs help you be found.

A sign above your stand is the easiest way to be spotted across a busy hall. It’s rigged by the venue and needs ordering early, so we can design it in from the start.

Get your team in early.

Exhibitors can get into the halls before the doors open, so that’s the time to restock and brief the team. Birmingham International station is next to the NEC and on-site parking is charged, so plan your team’s travel in advance.

We handle the logistics: plans, approvals, service orders, build & breakdown. You turn up to a finished stand & leave once the show's over.

Before the show

How to make an impact at The Security Event.

Three days, 450+ exhibitors and 18,500 visitors who know exactly what good kit looks like. Here’s how to make the most of it, from first plan to next year’s booking.

01.

Trade, end user or both? Decide first.

Installers want specs and margins, end users want reassurance it works on their site. If you’re after both, give each its own zone and its own conversation.

02.

Let them handle it.

Put working samples at hand height with clear spec cards. An installer who can pick it up and look at the terminals is halfway to ordering.

03.

Demo it live.

A live camera feed or a door that actually opens beats any render. Plan the power, network and mounting early, so the demo works on day one and day three.

04.

Be easy to find.

In a hall full of dark stands and similar kit, say what you make and who it’s for in a few words, visible from the aisle.

05.

Tag every lead as you go.

Trade and end-user leads need different follow-ups. Tag them on the stand so the right team calls the right people the week after.

06.

Rebook before you leave.

Many shows sell next year’s space before this one ends. Rebook, tell us your plot, and we can start on next year’s stand straight away. When we debrief the show, we’ll know what worked this time, so we can make your next stand work harder and give you better return on investment.

The smart way to exhibit

It gets smarter every time you come back.

We build exhibitions to work harder over time. By reusing and refining crafted elements across multiple shows, we reduce waste, retain what works, and make every next build more efficient than the last. Show one makes an impact. Show two builds on it. That’s how exhibiting should work.

Built responsibly

Good for your brand. Good for the PlANeT.

We build with reuse in mind from the start. That means fewer one-use builds, less waste, and exhibition stands designed to work harder over time. We use FSC- and PEFC-certified timber wherever possible and make smarter material choices at every stage. Because sustainability should be built in, not added on.

FAQS

Our LITE shell scheme stand package starts at £2,995. Venue services like power, internet and rigging are ordered through the venue or organiser, and we include them clearly in your itemised quote, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.
Yes. Every stand Rocket-X builds for The Security Event is hired, from LITE and READY packages to CUSTOM builds. The structure is hired and reused on other projects, which keeps your costs down and cuts waste. Anything crafted specifically for your stand is yours to keep, or we can store it and bring it back for your next show.
Yes. The majority of visitors fit and support the products they buy, so they want to handle kit, see it working and compare it. The stands that work here put products within reach, run live demos and make it obvious from the aisle what you make and who it's for.
Yes. We plan demos from day one, including the power and network they need, the structure to mount cameras, doors, readers or intercoms, and secure fixings so everything stays put. We test it all before doors open.
As soon as you've got your space booked. For a late-April show, that means briefing us by the end of January at the latest. 12 to 16 weeks gives time for design, review, revisions and production without rushing any stage. You don't need a finished brief to start. Your plot size, rough goals and a budget range are enough for us to tell you what's achievable.
You don't need a finished brief. You need your stand size or plot reference, a rough sense of your goals and a budget range. From those things, we can tell you what's achievable.
